I ordered this backdrop, because I've been recently getting into some basic photography and needed a backdrop in a standard, simple color. Please note that included with your purchase is ONLY the backdrop and clamps for it. The stand is sold separately. It came shipped to me in a smaller flat box. The backdrop itself was wrapped in a cellophane bag inside the box. The five spring clamps were in a smaller cellophane bag inside the box as well. The clamps were very good quality-they stayed closed without any slipping. The stitching and fabric quality looked very good, especially for the price. It's not thick enough to completely block out any light behind so be prepared to plan accordingly. It is not too thin either though in my opinion. The thinner material makes for easier storage. And yes it does have wrinkles when you unfold it, but that is easy ... full review
I just received this in the mail. It does smell a little like oil based paint, but you have to put your nose up to the fabric. The white and gray is what I ordered so alternating contrast is to be expected. First thing I did was throw it in a dryer with a wet towel to remove the creases and randomize the wrinkles. It's a backdrop of the same quality as the all black backdrop. I expect to be using it in a maternity shoot this weekend and I think it will be wonderful. What I ordered and what I expected. It isn't heavy which makes it portable for other locations, but it means it may not be what some people expect. I'm happy and looking forward to a lot of use. I think it will work for what ... full review
I just got this today and attached it to my back drop stand using A Clamps across the top. There are some crease marks where it was folded so I will try various tricks I found on the internet to get them out, hopefully, without melting or ruining it. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is a little small at 5'x7' for anything but a seated subject. That's not the sellers fault as it clearly states 5'x7' but I would definitely recommend it if it were 6'x9' or larger. Even with the folded creases, it works well out of the box.
Everyone wants to feel special, and when you buy a Drop It Modern fabric backdrop you’ll be one of 15 photographers to gain access to that style—the company maintains a limited inventory so that each style is more exclusive. These non-reflective canvas linen fabric backdrops are sold in 54- or 98-inch widths and 108-inch lengths. Wrinkle resistant and seamless, these backdrops can be machine washed and tumbled dry on low heat. Pictured here is Sunray.
Breaking news: Bokeh is in! With Lastolite’s Out of Focus Backgrounds, you won’t need to fiddle with your camera’s aperture to mimic that dreamy depth of field. There are a pair of double-sided backdrops in the Out of Focus line: one features a blurred seascape/autumn foliage, and the other sports summer foliage on one side and city lights on the other. At 4 x 5 feet, these backdrops should handle close to full-length portraits and will collapse to about a third of their size for transport. They weigh in at 3.3 pounds and come with their own carrying case.
Among a raft of new products, Denny’s Fair Tale Trail puts your subject in a whimsical (dare we say Hobbit-esque) setting. The backdrop is available in your choice of three materials: Freedom Cloth, which is a wrinkle-free polyster that’s washable and dryer safe; Twist Flex, which uses the Freedom Cloth material but mounts it to a wire frame that can be folded down tight if you envision travelling a lot with the backdrop. Lastly, it’s available in canvas, which is a more delicate backdrop that ships with a wood mounting and Velcro straps. Sizes vary with Freedom Cloth, giving you the widest selection of size options.
This is a durable and well made photography back drop. All stitching is tight with no loose threads. It includes 5 spring clamps for hanging, or it can be hung using the sewn in rod pockets. It's made of 100% cotton and is a nice weight without being too heavy. Overall I'm very happy with this backdrop and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice white one.
For a dramatic or edgy appearance, go with low-key lighting. Low-key lighting also focuses attention onto your subject by surrounding them in shadows instead of light. To do this, you want to ensure that your solid black backdrop is at least 3 stops darker than the light on your subject. With low-key lighting, you also need to ensure that none of the light from your subject is hitting your backdrop. Grids and flag are very helpful for this.

Users love the portable carrying bag, but some do note that it’s not heavy-duty or suitable for heavy fabrics. The ePhoto support stand kit is made of lightweight aluminum for portability, and you can adjust the height up to 8 ft. and the width to 10 ft. Another great thing about this product is that you can set it up in minutes, store it in the included carry bag and take it with you.

Backgrounds, also known as backdrops, are a standard feature used in a controlled setting such as a photography studio. The ability to change backgrounds adds versatility to portraits allowing you endless possibilities in truly crafting an image. Backdrops are available in various types and are categorized based on the size and materials they are made of. These can range from simple solids to subtle patterns and even custom-painted, photo-realistic scenes. To effectively use a backdrop you will need stands and other accessories.
As I expected with cotton it came quite wrinkled, but as any cotton the wrinkles come out well. Of course, ironing requires work and on such large piece of fabric it took about 15 minutes. Cotton will wrinkle again if it is folded for storage, so ideally it would be best to store it mounted on the stands, but for me it is not possible due to lack of space. So I expect that I will need to iron it again, but hopefully it will take less time compared to the initial ironing as I packed it less tightly. Steam ironing works best. For a large piece of fabric like this I use a separate bottle to spray mist on ... full review
The backdrops used for photography are usually made of lighter material which makes it easy for the photographers to carry them around while traveling. The backdrops are usually hung as panels or can be easily draped over anything to give a particular effect. They can also be suspended from background stands by using clamps. Depending upon the type of effect needed by the photographer, the type and size of backdrop can be selected from the wide variety available. Since backdrops require some support, there are many types of background supports available that are well-suited for location work, or even sophisticated permanent studios.
The main cause of this working is distance. Notice how close the subject is standing to the background and how far away the main light is from the subject. In this example, the subject is approximately 2 feet from the backdrop and the main light is approximately 4 feet from the subject. If you're new to this, I would recommend starting with your main light a bit further back to make it a little less challenging. You will see why in a second.
Position these lights to point at the backdrop and use manual settings to achieve the “blown out highlights” effect. Make sure the light reading is at least 3 stops higher than the light on your subject. Light bounced off the blown-out background will also create a back-lighting effect on your subject, the degree of back-lighting depends on the angle at which background light are pointed at the background.
I am helping a friend’s daughter with her wedding planning and want to make a backdrop like this for the wedding ceremony. Can you elaborate on how the strings of lights were plugged in and whether they all “hung” versus the string light hanging down and then looping back up, if that makes sense? I like the look of them just hanging but it seems like plugging a bunch of individual ones would be hard. Am I making this too complicated?!
It may be our summer issue but winter isn’t all that far off (sorry), and with White House Custom Color’s Through the Woods backdrop, you can put your subjects in a Robert Frost-esque scene without the frostbite. Like the other backdrops in WHCC’s collection, this one is made of wrinkle-free, 100 percent polyester fabric. It’s sold in either 10 x 8-feet or 6 x 8-feet sizes.
Love this! I am an armature photographer and have only used a few vinyl backdrops in the past. I needed a solid grey backdrop and thought I would try one of these because they are so much cheaper than the vinyl I had purchased in the past. It was super easy to use. I do just natural lighting so it was nice to not have to deal with a glare like I do on my vinyl ones. I also loved that it was so easy to set up and take down. I had read reviews that said collapsing it back up is difficult but I had a friend with me when using it and I asked her to hold one end and it literally took me less than 30 seconds on the first try...maybe we just got lucky? I wish they had more ... full review
When I received this it was folded down to 1'x6" package. After unfolding it, every fold line is very visible. Also the interior lights on top are part of the drop. This is an old time type of backdrop that depicts like a French street in late 1800 to early 1900 why there is a interior ceiling with lights on the top of this backdrop is in my opinion stupid. Also the seams should have been glued in a downward overlay application. Instead they are in a upward application which makes the top of the seam fold down exposing the white backside of the drop. Avoid. And by something that is actually cloth and not vinyl.

One of the main questions are customers ask us is “what is the difference between continuous and strobe lighting?” Continuous lighting uses a constant light source to light your subject, meaning that your lights will stay on during the entirety of your photo shoot. Continuous lighting is recommended for beginners. Strobe lighting uses a flash of light at the moment your camera shutter opens to illuminate your subject. Many professionals use this type of lighting because it offers more control of the light.

Users love the price and the quality of the product, but some do note that it’s too light for their liking. The Linco T-shaped backdrop stand features a sturdy design, a set of crossbars, and clamps to keep the fabric in place. Another great thing about this product is that it’s light – just four lbs., and you don’t need any special skills to assemble it. What’s more, you can adjust it from 2.6 ft. to 6.7 ft.
So why only 4 stars and not 5? I personally don't like the very top of the backdrop. If you look at the pictures carefully (I don't know if you can actually see this because I tried to crop these out), it looks like there are ceiling lights on a dark alley street. Scientifically, that's impossible and realistically, it looks WEIRD. But other than that, it's near perfect for what you're paying for.
A user mentions that he was surprised by the quality and that he hasn’t had issues with it. He shares that he bought several to shoot pictures for his website and that it takes a couple of minutes to set them up. Another purchaser states that he would have liked if there were sandbags to keep the frame stable, but it works well nonetheless. However, one customer has noted that the stand is flimsy and that the clips are not holding the fabric well.
well my fault i didnt pay attention to other posted reviews that said order multiples. i only ordered one and of course it was no where near enough to do a proper back drop. so i will need to buy maybe 2 more. the picture seems a tad misleading cos it looks like just one solid panel. One Panel is the equivalent of one of my House curtains. which is where i hung this up, over my windows, to make a back drop for our New years eve family party. LOL it was real conversation piece.
A. Regardless of the lighting system you’ve selected, you should have at least some control over the light intensity. A basic lighting system should allow you to adjust the power of the lighting to half or full. More complex systems will give you several settings options to control the intensity of the lighting. If you purchase an inexpensive lighting system, you’ll have to spend more time adjusting the physical position of the light to achieve the exact intensity of light on the subject you want.
As with lighting systems and camera equipment, backdrops require some kind of support to keep them in place. Background supports can be simple or sophisticated systems. The simple ones are easy to set up and break down and are well suited for location work, while sophisticated, permanent studio systems can hold multiple backgrounds that can be raised or lowered either manually or at the flip of a switch.
